Rather, an adult male should be an earning member in a family.

Either he should pursue a self-employment route: PUROHIT, or their Assistants, or run a business enterprises:  selling papads and pickles,  catering,  type-writing/word-processor/computer coaching institute, Document Writer, DTP, Insurance Agent, Singer/musician, journalist, etc.     Many brahmins who are not having white-collar employment are found is one of these;   several careers would have been omitted here, due to lack of my exposure.   All the same, the point is there are only a very few  avenues, where we find brahmins in non-organised sector.    And, even in the traditional sectors of employment, where we used to find brahmins: teachers, State and Central Government Secretariats and offices, banks, insurance  and other financial institutions, we do not find many, due to Reservation in the  Government and Public Sector, of which we shall have no discussion here.  Certain trades have become extinct: Blue-Print Ammonia Printing, PCO, Telephone Operators,  Radio repair,....

We have to assess the number of the unemployed and under-employed brahmins, in the age group, say 20 -- 30.   Those who are above 30 would have found some avocation and would have adjusted their lifestyles for the same;   in any case, they can be taken up later.  Our focus should be on the youth in the twenties.   Here too, I may sound chauvinistic:   let us consciously take males first.  About women, we can discuss in another article.    Those points which would equally apply to women are to be taken as such.

The new age has opened up many new areas, but our youth does not recognise them: , Event management, Public Relations Executives, .   Our traditional mindset regarding a few trades , such as
 Electricians, A/C mechanics, Shop Floor workers in manufacturing industries  have to be modified.
If Government has made laws to make non-brahmins as Archakas in temples, it is time, the brahmins too do not look at some trades as not theirs.   Dignity of labour should always be revered. 

Now, my earnest request is:  let there be crowd funding and a Trust be formed for training brahmin youth in trades, required by industries of the day.   The work of Ramadorai committee to be used for starters.    Specifically, NDA government talks of Defence Production Corridor.  The requirements of this sector to be listed;   experts/professionals/retired well-wishers to put their heads together and identify the trades and shortlist a few for offering training to brahmin youth.   There are several Engineering Colleges which have been shut down for lack of students.  Identify one of them;  take it on medium-term lease;   prepare them for the shortlisted trades.    I am sure, a good number of good-hearted retired faculties will offer their services for taking classes and running the administration.    Spare capacity can be used for training Brahmin students for IAS, NEET, CA, etc.

In fact, there are two Tamil Nadu Brahmin Associations;  one of them may take this up.

I have been thinking for this for  some time.  That I can use FB struck me now. 

Can I expect some good moves will start now?   On my part,  I offer my services in teaching financial management for the non-finance persons,  Project Management, etc;    or in the Administration.
